Changes in the world of art and design - considerations and discussions
Where is art heading? What is it that connects music, fine arts and contemporary urban lifestyle? How does performing influence the understanding and feeling of music? These and similar questions will be addressed during the MUSIC.DESIGN.FORM festival to take place on September 19th-23rd at the Philharmonic in Szczecin. Among the invited guests are professor Sabine Sanio, lecturer at the Department of Sound and Sonic Arts of the University of Art in Berlin, and Trine Blicher Folmer, architect and owner of the Danish architectural studio "Ghetto".
One of the assumptions of the MUSIC.DESIGN.FORM festival is to show the conventions of the division into types, genres and styles of artistic expression. Art in the contemporary world is an endless dialogue, both internal – between its genres and external – between the creators and audiences of works. Some of these issues will be addressed during the lecture and discussions scheduled for the second and third day of the festival, which will become a place for a creative clash of thoughts, opinions and views.
The lecture "Music and art: performativity in art and aesthetic experiences" will be waiting for audiences interested in the direction of changes in music and the world of design. The axis of the lecture will be set by the statement that from the 20th century, art is no longer diversified in any way. Today, the condition of sensual perception and aesthetic experience is present not only in music but in other arts, especially the fine arts. It is a performative process which constitutes the strongest bond between various fields of art. A new way of looking at music as a performative art, as well as technical possibilities in the field of sound spatialization, changed the understanding of music itself. During the lecture, musical concepts, concerning new technical and aesthetic possibilities, as well as discovering the connection between music, fine arts and contemporary urban lifestyle will be presented. The lecture will be led by professor Sabine Sanio, lecturer at the Department of Sound and Sonic Arts of the University of Art in Berlin, the only woman dealing with the theory and history of audial culture at this Berlin school. She’s the author of numerous publications as well as radio broadcasts in the field of media theory and aesthetics. The lecture will take place on September 20th at 17.00 in the Chamber Hall of the Philharmonic in Szczecin.
Of equally interest is the discussion panel devoted to issues of contemporary design, which will be led by Radosław Gajda – academic lecturer, architect and urban planner, founder of the most popular video blog on architecture and art "Architecture is a good idea". Among the guests invited to the discussion are: Trine Blicher Folmer from the Danish architectural studio "Ghetto" and Tomasz Sachanowicz – lecturer at the West Pomeranian University of Technology, architect, founder of the website and blog "Architektura w Szczecinie" (in English: “Architecture in Szczecin”). The discussion panel will be an excellent opportunity to confront knowledge and views on the direction of development of contemporary design, as well as an attempt to capture the current state of this field. The meeting will take place on September 21th at 19.00, in the Chamber Hall of the Philharmonic in Szczecin. The Danish Cultural Institute is the partner of the discussion panel.
