About festival
The MDF Festival – MUSIC.DESIGN.FORM is a cyclical international project whose first edition will begin on September 19 at the Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic in Szczecin. The idea of the festival is based on a specific synthesis of various fields of art, blurring the boundaries between them, on the contact of which new ideas, inspirations, experiments and finally works are born. One of the goals of the event is to try to capture in the same place and time trends and laws governing contemporary design and development directions, with particular emphasis on music and the applied arts. The festival consists of events of a variety of natures: chamber and symphonic concerts, exhibitions, workshops, meetings and discussions, happenings, animations and multimedia presentations, installations, visual and sound visualizations, with the participation of outstanding artists from Poland and the world. Everything will be connected by a common denominator – the form, and integrated into the unusual architectural space of the premises of the Philharmonic in Szczecin, creating a coherent whole.

The artists will include world-famous composers, designers, as well as visionaries and designers – both those whose search time has come to an end and those who are still exploring new fields. The MDF Festival is addressed to recipients who are open to what is new, different and creative, interested in development trends and changes in music as well as in applied art. We invite you all to this event including:
  • music lovers who are close to experimental explorations in music;
  • visionaries and designers seeking inspiration;
  • students of universities and art schools;
  • children and adolescents who want to develop imagination and the ability to create;
  • anyone who wants to witness extraordinary artistic experiences from the borderline of various fields of art.

MDF Festival 2018 – MUSIC.DESIGN.FORM will take place on 19-23 September at the Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic in Szczecin, the organizer of this event.

The program features:

Workshops
The MDF festival does not just entail passive listening and watching. The program will also include practical classes to open the minds of adults, and allow children to realize their imagination in practice. Inspirational and creative.

Concerts
Among the many trends and fields of art, music at the MDF festival will play a primary role. The interior of the Philharmonic will be filled with the sounds of interesting music genres which have little in common with classical music. Outstanding artists and performers.

Expositions
For the duration of the festival, the interior of the Philharmonic will morph into an extraordinary gallery – an exhibition of furniture, graphics, large-format photographs and design, creating a unique scenography for all the events. There will be no special effects.

Performances
During the MDF festival, the Philharmonic will not only play with music, but also with light. Each of the five festival days will be a unique spectacle, in which the lighting effects will be combined with the sounds. A feast for the senses.

Lectures
The assumption of the MDF festival is to capture the trends and laws governing contemporary design in real time and place. The direction will be given by eminent lecturers. A valuable dose of knowledge and extension of thought horizons.

Discussions
The MDF Festival is a dialogue, not only between the various fields of art, but also their creators and recipients. A meeting place, confrontation of views, as well as discussions – planned and unplanned. A creative clash of thought and opinion.
