The Philharmonic in Szczecin will play with light!
On 24th May at 22.00 the Philharmonic in Szczecin will shine with colors. This unique experimental test is to show the lighting capabilities of the façade of the building that has never been fully used before. The test will certainly constitute a fascinating light show, but its role is much more important – preparation for the September MUSIC.DESIGN.FORM Festival, during which the building of the Philharmonic in Szczecin will play with light on such a large scale for the first time.
On a daily basis, the building of the Philharmonic in Szczecin shines white. In special circumstances it has been backlit with the colors of Szczecin: white-green-blue or the national colors: white and red – says Ewa Porada-Spieszny, deputy director of the Philharmonic in Szczecin. Also tested – in cooperation with OSRAM – was lighting the façade in pink during the European Cervical Cancer Prevention Week. Encouraged by the effects, we decided to continue cooperation to use the full illumination capabilities of the facade: the variety of colors and the rhythm of their appearance on the facade to include flickering and pulsing of the light.
Thursday's tests will allow selection of the most interesting ideas for illumination, which will then become the starting point for the proper light animations accompanying the MUSIC.DESIGN.FORM Festival on September 19-23.
MUSIC.DESIGN.FORM (MDF) is a festival across divisions that combines different fields of art. During the 5 days the audience will experience symphonic and chamber concerts, exhibitions, workshops, discussion panels, happenings, visual and sound visualizations, and more. The main assumption of the festival is to show how the divisions into genres, styles of artistic expression are delineated. The first edition of MUSIC.DESIGN.FORM Festival will take place from 19-23 September 2018 in the unique award-winning space of the organizer, the Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic in Szczecin.
